Bo Zaunders was born in Sweden, and came to the United States in his mid-twenties. Working
for Gilbert & Felix, a small advertising agency in New York City - from mechanical man to award-winning
creative director - he began a career in advertising that lasted some twenty
years, several of which were spent in Europe, where he worked for Young &
Rubicam in Stockholm, Madrid, London, and Paris. Then, having sold himself
on Nikon - one of his major accounts - he started to freelance as a photographer,
specializing in travel, food and wine.
Clients included Sidestreets of the World, Fine Wine Journal, Conde Nast Traveler , Wine Spectator, and
other publications. Soon, he also began writing travel articles to complement
his photography, and became a steady contributor to World’s Fare (Tribune Media Services International, a syndicated service of The L.A. Times/Chicago Tribune). Other clients include Nordic Reach, National Geographic Traveler, The Underground Wine Journal, Sweden Traveler, LuxuryWeb, Scandinavian Review, Popular Photography, and several European magazines.
His photography has been seen in National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, the New York Times, Gourmet, Travel Holiday, Newsweek, and many other publications. He has been profiled in Nikon World, and is a contributing photographer to the Corbis photo agency.
Bo Zaunders has illustrated two children’s books and has done editorial illustrations for The New York Times Book Review, Smithsonian Magazine, Gourmet, Advertising Age, and Conde Nast Traveler. More recently, he has written four nonfiction children’s books, all of which have been illustrated by his wife, Roxie Munro.
Bo has lectured in schools, at conventions and at the United Nations, as well as on Cunard’s Royal Viking Sun, Crystal Cruises, Voyages of Discovery, and the Star Clipper. He lives in New York City.
